There are two trainings available through the Connecting Smiles site.

Oral Health Needs Assessment Training for Screeners

This Basic Screening Survey Training is for screeners who will be participating in the 2022-23 Oral Health Needs Assessment. The training will equip volunteer screeners with the information that is needed to be a part of the statewide needs assessment.

Fluoride Varnish Training for Medical Providers and Staff

This oral health integration training is for medical providers and their staff to support the integration of preventive oral health messages and preventive strategies within a medical setting.  It is part of a collaborative project with the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

To begin:

1. Create an account by following the instructions provided.
2. Once you have created an account or logged in, click on the link to the training that you wish to take. 
   
3. Take the training at your own pace.
   
4. After completing the training slides, click the link to the quiz.
   
5. You must score 80% or better to obtain the training certificate.
   
6. If you receive a score below 80%, the link will allow you to retake the quiz.
   
7. After completion of the training and assessment, download, complete, and retain your training certificate for your records.
8. For the Oral Health Needs Assessment Training, please email you course completion certificate to Wes Gravelle (gravelwj@dhec.sc.gov) at DHEC to indicate your availability to participate as a screener.
